Abstract: The social value orientation is a basic and stable personality trait. The individual’s social value orientation has appeared in the early childhood and is influenced by social interaction experience. There are obvious differences in the cooperative tendencies of individuals with prosocial value orientation and personal value orientation in social dilemma situations. The individuals with prosocial value orientation are more inclined to cooperate, while the individuals with prosocial value orientation are more inclined to maximize their own interests. This paper summarizes the characteristics of cooperation among individuals with different social value orientations in social dilemmas, and gives directions for future research.
