交际翻译理论视域下农业典籍英译策略探究——以《齐民要术概论》为例

C-E Translation Strategies for Chinese Agricultural Classics from the Perspective of Communicative Translation Theory—A Case Study on A Preliminary Survey of the Book Ch’i Min Yao Shu

摘要: 我国是世界农业大国，悠久的农耕历史孕育了《齐民要术》等一大批宝贵的农业典籍。在文明交流互鉴的大背景下，进一步做好优秀文化的外宣工作十分必要，而农业典籍英译是推动中国农耕文化“走出去”的重要途经。本文以农业典籍《齐民要术》的缩略英译本《齐民要术概论》为例，探析纽马克交际翻译理论在农业典籍英译中的应用，分析农业典籍的三种英译策略，以期为农业典籍的外译提供有价值的参考。

Abstract: As a large agricultural country, China boasts a number of agricultural classics such as Ch’i Min Yao Shu. Against the backdrop of exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations, it is necessary for China to boost the promotion of excellent Chinese culture. In this process, the English translation of Chinese agricultural classics is essential for our agricultural culture to go global. Based on Newmark’s communicative translation theory, this paper analyses the C-E translation strategies for the translation of Chinese agricultural classics through a case study on A Preliminary Survey of the Book Ch’i Min Yao Shu, the English version of Ch’i Min Yao Shu. Providing three major strategies, this paper hopes to offer a guideline for the English translation of Chinese agricultural classics.
