Attention Bias of Optimists: Evidence Based on Emotional Distraction Suppression
Abstract: In this study, negative priming paradigm was adopted to investigate the distraction inhibition of emotional words and neutral words by optimistic, neutral and pessimistic individuals. In this study, emotional words were used as materials, and the results showed that when the priming distraction words were negative, the optimistic group had negative priming. When the priming word is positive, the pessimistic group has negative priming; no matter the positive or negative priming words, negative priming occurs in the neutral group. This study provides some basis for optimists’ positive and pragmatic statements.
