二语动机自我系统理论相关研究——2012~2022：十年的回顾

摘要: 二语动机自我系统理论，一直是国内外学者所关注的焦点。本文主要就近十年国内外二语动机自我系统相关文献进行简单的研究综述。并对国内外实证研究的研究内容、研究方法、研究对象等进行考察和对比，对当前的研究现状进行总结并对未来的研究方向进行讨论与展望。
Abstract: The L2 Motivational Self System has always been the focus of scholars at home and abroad. This paper is a brief review of the literature on L2 Motivation Self System in recent ten years. In this study, the contents, methods and objects of empirical research at home and abroad are investi-gated and compared, the current research status is summarized, and the future research direction is discussed and prospected.

1. 引言

动机，作为影响二语习得的关键情感因素，一直以来备受国内外学者们的关注。Dörnyei以社会心理学中的“可能自我理论”(Markus & Nurius, 1986)、“自我差异理论”(Higgins, 1987)为基础，开创了新的二语学习动机理论，即“二语动机自我系统”理论(L2 Motivational Self System，以下简称L2MSS) (Dörnyei, 2005)，该理论为解释全球化背景下二语学习者的学习动机提供了新的思路。L2MSS理论包括三部分：理想二语自我、应该二语自我和二语学习体验。

理想二语自我(Ideal L2 Self, IS)，是指与二语相关的理想自我部分，是学习者希望在未来达到的理想二语状态和水平。IS是学习者心里树立的目标，学习者勤奋学习以缩小现实自我与理想自我之间的差距。理想二语自我形象越积极，学习动机就会越强烈。Dörnyei认为IS受融合型动机、促进型工具动机的共同影响。

应该二语自我(Ought-to L2 Self, OS)，是指学习者为了满足所处的社会环境(家人、朋友、老师)对学习者的期望和要求，或者为了避免一些消极结果的产生，而认为自己在二语学习上应该拥有某些状态及特征。学习者认为拥有良好的二语水平是自己的责任，为了满足他人期望而努力学习。此时，学习者的主要动机是外在的工具性动机，也被称为预防型工具型动机(苏晓俐，2012)。

二语学习经历(L2 Learning Experience, LLE)，与学习者具体的学习经历、学习情境相联系，比如教师、课程设置、班级小组、学习者过去成功或者失败的LLE。受情景化、实施性动机的影响(韦晓保，2013)。

本文尝试对2012~2022这10年间国内外二语动机自我系统相关文献进行简单的研究综述。并对国内外实证研究的研究内容、研究方法、研究对象等进行考察和对比，以期对二语动机自我系统当前的研究现状进行总结并对其未来的研究方向进行讨论与展望。

2. 研究设计

2.1. 数据来源

时间跨度：2012~2022 年间的核心期刊论文。主题检索关键词，英文为：L2 motivational self system，L2 self，possible self，ideal L2 self，ought-to L2 self 等；中文为：“二语动机自我系统”、“二语自我”、“可能二语自我”、“理想二语自我”、“应该二语自我”等。数据库，英文为：Web of Science中的SSCI子库；中文为：中国知网CNKI、万方数据服务平台、维普中文期刊服务平台中的CSSCI子库。

2.2. 研究方法

首先，对纳入研究范围的论文的国内外分属(以作者供职的单位所属的国家为准)、研究方法、研究对象和研究视角进行分类、编码，并利用Excel2019及SPSS26.0进行分析(限于篇幅原因，表格内容并未全部在此展示)。其次，对国内外实证研究的研究内容、研究方法、研究对象等进行考察和对比，以对当前的研究现状进行总结并对未来的研究方向进行讨论与展望。

3. 结果

3.1. 研究概况

如图1所示，在统计时限的10年间，共有129篇有关二语自我的论文，其中国外68篇，占52.7%；国内论文61篇，占47.3%。国外研究成果来自美、英、澳、德、韩、日、伊朗等国家。2022年由于时间原因仅搜索到3篇文献。2014年国内外共有6篇文献，是近10年来最少的。以后稳定发展，到2020年，文献数量高达19篇。可见自2012年来，国内外学者对二语动机自我这一变量持续关注。

3.2. 研究内容

经过系统归类，笔者认为国内外关于二语动机自我的研究可以分为三大类：

3.2.1. 对理论本身的探讨

1、对理论结构本身进行探讨(詹先君，2017；Teimouri, 2017; Cho, 2020; 于晶，2021)

于晶(2021)的研究通过验证性因子分析揭示了担心二语自我(dreaded L2 self)是一个独立的自我，L2MSS应将“担心二语自我”作为一个单独的实体自我。Teimouri (2017)提出了对二语动机自我模型的修正，实证检验支持学习者的OS分为自己和他人两种立场。

2、探究理论对于不同群体、对象的适用性(Taguchi et al., 2014; 刘凤阁，2015；Ghanizadeh & Rostami, 2015; 张焕敏，2017；詹先君，2018a；Oakes & Howard, 2022)

詹先君(2018a)从动态系统理论出发，考察二语动机自我因素发展的群体特征和个体差异。发现就群体特征而言，IS的发展更稳定，动机学习行为与二语学习体验的互动更为稳定，且两因素发展趋势大致相仿。个体差异层面，LLE的个体发展差异显著大于IS和OS。Oakes和Howard (2022)以法语为例通过跨语言视角探讨L2MSS对英语以外语言学习者的适用性。对来自瑞典和波兰的大学法语和英语学习者的定量调查分析表明虽然该框架与法语学习者的情况相关，但其他动机结构也在发挥作用。

3、相关量表的编制

韦瑶瑜和樊葳葳(2016)通过对5所高校的大二学生进行了问卷调查，通过因子分析和信度分析，编制了有较高效度和信度的中国大学生IS量表和OS量表。

3.2.2. 探讨该系统与其他二语学习者变量的关系

1、内部因素

内部因素方面国内外的研究主要包括：学习投入程度(吕中舌，杨元辰，2013)、学习努力程度(Moskovsky et al., 2016)、自我感知能力(Wong, 2020; Kim, 2020)，学习意图(Wong, 2020)、学业韧性(詹先君，2018b；Danesh & Shahnazari, 2020)、情绪情感(刘珍等，2012；陈英，2019；Teimouri, 2017; Kim, 2021)、沟通意愿(Peng, 2015; Lee & Lee, 2020; Lee, Sylvén, & Lee, 2021)、国际姿态(彭剑娥，2015；Kong et al., 2018; Peng, 2015)、国家利益(Islam et al., 2013)等与二语自我的关系。

例如，Yu等人(2018)收集了五年级和六年级学习者的汉语听力、阅读和写作水平的纵向数据和其六年级时的L2动机和自我评价水平，结果表明，学生自我感知的熟练程度是理想自我的组成部分，理想自我又通过预期努力提高熟练程度。Kim (2021)探究了情感体验(perezhivaniya)在L2学习动机中的意义，发现L2学习者情感经验的积累和对这些经验的评价对于认识他们的L2自我至关重要。

2、外部因素

外部因素方面国内外的研究主要包括：如家庭因素(詹先君，洪民，2015；周慈波等，2016；Gu & Cheung, 2016)、学习环境(Lamb, 2012)、教师支持(杨丽娟，于江泠，2017)、国外经历(Fryer & Roger, 2018; Kim, 2020)、数字网络社交媒体(Zheng et al., 2018; Smith et al., 2020; Lai & Tai, 2021; Lee & Lee, 2021)等与二语自我的关系。

例如，詹先君、洪民(2015)研究家庭背景与L2MSS的关系，发现社会阶层对OS产生耗损性影响，文化水平对IS产生增益性影响。Hyang-Il Kim (2020)发现随着国外经历的增加，IS可能会增强，在考虑国外经历的情况下，自我效能对IS的形成起重要作用。

3、对现实、行为的影响

这方面国内外的研究主要包括：动机学习行为(刘珍等，2012；徐智鑫，张黎黎，2013；Zhang, 2015; 陈英，2019；Wong, 2018)、自主学习行为(韦晓保，2013，2014；盛蕾，张艳华，2021)、英语学习水平、成绩、成效(葛娜娜，金立鑫，2016；霍炜，芮燕萍，2020；Li & Zhang, 2021)、阅读技能(洪民，2018)、口语口音(胡元江，2016；Lee, Sylvén, & Lee, 2021)、二语阅读成绩(Wong, 2018)、二语写作成绩(Jang & Lee, 2019; Tahmouresi & Papi, 2021)等与二语动机自我的关系。

例如，盛蕾、张艳华(2021)研究发现IS和OS对汉语自主学习行为有显著的正向影响，IS对自主学习行为具有更强的预测力。Lee等(2021)研究发现，IS、OS和对英国口音的态度对韩国人的二语沟通意愿有显著的预测作用，而只有IS预测瑞典人的二语沟通意愿。

3.2.3. 理论应用

1、应用于理论解释(胡元江，2016；常海潮，2019)

胡元江(2016)以Dörnyei (2005)提出的L2MSS为理论框架，进行一系列实证研究，探讨中国大学生二语口语动机有几种类型，以及各动机类型学习者的口语水平如何。

2、应用于干预策略

国内外很多学者都对将二语动机系统应用于教学干预与动机策略进行了研究。(Papi & Abdollahzadeh, 2012; Magid & Chan, 2012; 王欣，戴炜栋，2015；王欣，王勇，2019；端义镭，2020；李欣，侯慧凡，2020；Safdari, 2021; Ghasemi, 2022)

例如，李欣、侯慧凡(2020)以L2MSS理论为基础，通过6种干预措施，采用访谈及问卷调查对90名非英语专业学生进行二语动机策略干预研究。结果证明干预策略有效，实验组英语成绩和动机水平明显提高且其英语成绩和LLE及二语自我相关。Ghasemi (2022)研究探索L2MSS作为一种治疗方法在缓解学生与学校有关的习得性无助感(LH)方面的作用。通过设计实施一个基于L2MSS的干预计划和为期一个学期的支持性教学，实验组的LH得到缓解，学业成绩得到提高，取得了积极的结果。并在6个月后的随访中，证明改善具有持久性。

4. 小结与展望

结合国内外的研究现状分析，对国内二语动机自我研究做出总结展望。

4.1. 加强对少数群体、其他语种的关注

据统计分析可知，国外研究中，研究对象的教育层次为高等教育的最多，其次是混合教育层次，最后是中等教育。国内研究的研究对象多来自高等教育层次，但各个教育层次的群体都有涉及，相对来说更加平衡和全面。从研究样本的二语来看，国内研究的二语多为英语；国外研究的二语较为多样化。

L2MSS的理论范式研究很大程度上基于英语作为目标语言。Dörnyei和Al-Hoorie (2017)认为，当前对第二语言动机的概念化显示了某些微妙的特征，这些特征或许不能完全解释对英语以外语言(LOTEs)学习的动机，或低估其某些重要特征，或对学习英语的动机和LOTEs之间的区别没有提供足够细致的描述。近年来国外学者积极运用二语自我理论对英语以外的语种的动机进行研究(Dörnyei & Al-Hoorie, 2017; Olsen, 2018; Kong et al., 2018; Chambers, 2019; Al-Hoorie & Hiver, 2020)，而国内学者将其他语种和多语种作为对象的研究较少。虽然英语是我国从基础教育一直延伸到高等教育的主要第二语言，但是在高等教育阶段，全国各大高校都开设了德、法、日等小语种专业，这些学习英语以外语言学生的二语动机自我值得我们进行探究。并且，我国作为一个多民族国家，对少数民族学习汉语和其他二语的自我动机的研究也有得天独厚的条件以及理论和现实意义。

4.2. 研究方法上看可以关注纵向研究、质性研究

国内的二语自我实证研究多采用定量方法与混合方法，采用定性方法的研究较少，仅有1篇。国外研究中的定性方法、定量方法和混合方法则比较平衡。从研究的时长来看，国内研究多采用横断研究，纵向研究比较少，国外的情况也大致类似。

Ushioda (2011)强调了以基于语境和定性的方式研究动机的价值，认为第二语言学习者需要被理解为处于特定文化和历史背景下的“真实的人”，因此需要以“人在语境中”为重点来捕捉这种非线性、复杂和动态的关系(Ushioda, 2009)。近年来，国内外许多学者都采用纵向研究，对研究对象的二语动机自我进行长时间的追踪(Thorsen et al., 2017; 詹先君，2018a；王欣，王勇，2019；常海潮，2019；Nakamura, 2019; Wen & Piao, 2020)。由于在真正的纵向研究中跟踪参与者非常困难，研究者们也可以考虑采用纵向研究设计例如回顾性案例研究设计(Yu et al., 2018; Papi & Hiver, 2020)，来进行调查。同样，未来研究者们可以尝试着手用质性的方法对二语动机自我进行研究，充分利用多样化的研究方法及其各自的优点。

4.3. 着眼不同作用，丰富研究角度

国内的对二语动机自我研究的各个方面都有涉及，探讨该系统与其他二语学习者变量的关系的研究比较多，国外的研究相较于国内更为平衡。

除了探究英语作为一门学科时学习者对它的学习动机以外，还有学者探究英语作为教学媒介(EMI)时与学习者语言学习动机之间的关系(Lasagabaster, 2016; Du & Jackson, 2018; Hennebry & Gao, 2021)。Hennebry的研究探讨了英语学习动机与微观(课堂)及宏观(学校)语境之间的互动关系，研究结果发现EMI学习者表现出比中文作为学习媒介和混合语言作为学习媒介同龄人更高的学习英语的动机。未来的研究者们可以对语言学习动机和教学媒介之间的相互作用关系进行进一步的研究，为发展解释微观和宏观背景的语言学习动机理论提供信息。

未来研究者还可以从二语动机自我单个维度角度开展研究，从单个维度角度来看，IS一直是国内外研究者关注度较高的内容(孙蕾，吕中舌，2014；Oz, 2015; 詹先君，2017；Hessel, 2015)。相比之下，作为理论体系中另外两个维度的OS和LLE很少被单独研究。Dörnyei (2019)认为，LLE通常是动机行为的最强有力的预测因子，但没有得到太多的学术关注，是未被探究的“黑匣子”。未来的研究可以对OS和LLE两个维度多加关注。

学习一门语言涉及到听说读写各个方向。同一名语言学习者对语法的理解和对阅读技巧的掌握也会有所不同。国内对于二语动机自我系统的研究大都笼统关注语言学习整体，对特定语言技能动机的探讨有限。未来的研究可以对此多加关注，探究L2MSS在语言学习各方面发挥的作用。

4.4. 积极应用现代科技技术，结合相关学科理论

目前对于二语动机自我的研究已经证明其对学习成绩和动机行为有很大的影响，很多学者也探究如何通过构建良好的二语自我形象，对学习动机产生积极的影响。例如，Adolphs等(2018)的研究探究了使用技术数字化创建语言学习者理想L2自我表征的可能性。未来的研究还可以尝试应用现代科技技术来对学习者的二语动机进行影响。

除此之外，未来的研究还可以尝试拓宽研究领域。例如，Al-Hoorie & Hiver (2020)检验了语言动机的基本差异假说(该假说认为在动机水平上的语言学习与学习其他学校科目有质的区别)。利用横断研究方法，收集韩国高中生学习英语、汉语和数学动机的数据。发现L2MSS很好地解释了所有数据，没有显示出其在语言类学科上明确的独特性。尽管研究者认为语言与非语言学科之间或英语与汉语之间的差异有可能被描述为同一潜在动机过程的各种表现形式，而不是语言学习和非语言学习之间的本质区别，但最终并未接受零假设。这种未来的研究可以继续对L2MSS对其他非语言学科的适用性进行研究和检验，结合心理学、教育学、语言学等不同的学科知识，对所得结果进行合理的解释，从而丰富我们对二语动机自我理论的理解。

5. 本研究的局限性

本研究可能存在以下局限性：1、对论文收集不够彻底，由于搜索时限和数据库的限制可能导致部分论文被遗漏；2、对各项研究指标分类的准确性尚有待检验。大体来说，文章总结了2012年至2022年国内外有关L2MSS的绝大部分核心期刊研究成果，并通过比较与讨论，提出国内相关研究存在的不足，并对该领域的未来进行了展望，以期为将来的研究提供参考。
