翻译目的论的视角下商务信函委婉语翻译策略浅析

An Analysis on the Translation Strategies of Business Letter Euphemisms Based on Skopos Theory

摘要: 世界经济的发展离不开国际贸易的开展，在此背景下，翻译好商务信函委婉语对于推进国际贸易开展有重大意义。本文将从翻译目的论的视角探讨商务信函委婉语的翻译策略。本文首先介绍了什么是委婉语，分析了商务信函中委婉语的功能，主要包括委婉表达合作双方意愿、维护合作双方尊严和推动建立商务合作关系三方面，结合具体例子，进一步分析三种功能在商贸活动中的体现。将商务信函委婉语按照时态表达方式分为被动式表达、缓和式表达和虚拟式表达，分别对这三种表达方式的实例进行分析，阐述商务信函委婉语翻译策略。

Abstract: The development of the world economy is inseparable from the development of international trade. In this context, the good translation of euphemisms in business letters is significant to the promotion of international trade. The thesis explores the translation strategies of business letter euphemisms from the perspective of Skopos Theory. It first introduces what is euphemism, and analyzes the functions of euphemism in business letters, including three aspects of euphemistically expressing the will of both parties, maintaining the dignity of both parties, and promoting the establishment of business cooperation. Based on specific examples, it further analyzes the three functions’ embodiments in business activities; then, divides the business letter euphemism into passive, mild and virtual forms according to the expression methods and analyzes the examples of these three expression methods respectively to expound the translation strategies of business letter euphemisms.
