中英文化差异在颜色词中的体现及译法——以黄色为例

Cultural Differences between Chinese and English in Color Words and Their Translation—Taking Yellow as an Example

摘要: 颜色词是各民族文化中的重要组成部分，由于中英国家之间的种种差异，中英文中对应的颜色词具有不同的含义。随着中英国家跨文化交流越来越频繁，了解中英国家对颜色词的理解，对提升我们的语言能力，减少文化冲突具有重大意义。本文以“黄色”为例，通过对比研究中英语言文化中黄色所代表的积极、消极两方面的含义，探析该颜色词在中英文化中的差异并提出翻译方法，旨在为中英语语言学习者扫清一点障碍，也为进一步促进中英文化间的交流做微小贡献。

Abstract: Color words are an important part of various national cultures. Due to various differences be-tween Chinese and English countries, the corresponding color words in Chinese and English have different meanings. With the increasingly frequent cross-cultural communication between China and the UK, understanding the understanding of color words in China and the UK is of great significance to improve our language ability and reduce cultural conflicts. This paper, taking “yellow” as an example, through a comparative study of the positive and negative meanings represented by yellow in Chinese and English language and culture, explores the differences between the color words in Chinese and English cultures and proposes translation methods, aiming to clear up some obstacles for Chinese and English language learners, and also make a small contribution to further promoting the communication between Chinese and English cultures.
