影片《百鸟朝凤》的英译字幕质量评估研究
A Study on the Quality Assessment of the Subtitle Translation of Song of the Phoenix
Abstract: At present, there are few studies on quality assessment of subtitle translations in China. Song of the Phoenix, a folk film, covers a great number of Chinese elements. This paper adopts the FAR subtitle translation evaluation model proposed by Swedish scholar Jan Pederson as the theoretical framework. Under the guidance of this evaluation model, 21 errors in the subtitle of this film were found. Through analyzing the causes of the errors, the author suggests: 1) Translators should improve their ability to understand and use languages accurately; 2) Post-translation proofreading of subtitle translation should be strengthened; 3) Subtitle translation should focus on the audience’s viewing experience by reasonably arranging the line length, time length, and font color.
