Abstract: The awake prone positioning has been proven to improve oxygenation in patients with hypoxic respiratory failure, reduce the endotracheal intubation rate, and has been widely used during the COVID-19 pandemic. This article reviews the research pro-gress of the awake prone positioning, summarizes the mechanisms, indications, contraindications, implementation details, and effect observation of the awake prone positioning, and puts forward the existing problems as well as pointing out the possible future development directions, so as to provide a reference for clinical medical personnel.
