基于中国文化“走出去”战略的研究——以葛浩文对莫言小说英译为例
A Study on China Culture’s “Going Global” Strategy—Taking Howard Goldblatt’s English Translation of Mo Yan’s Novel as an Example
摘要: 中国文学在世界文学领域有着举足轻重的地位,但西方读者对于中国文学在认知上却存在大片空白,因此,中国现当代文学自20世纪50年代以来,进行了一系列“走出去”的尝试,然而效果甚微,也暴露出了许多问题。莫言获得诺贝尔文学奖后,在西方世界掀起了新一轮的“中国热”,同时其作品英译者葛浩文的译作在国内也掀起了轩然大波,更是在文化翻译策略和译介模式选择等方面成功为“走出去”战略提供了经验。本文将从上述两个角度出发,基于葛浩文对于莫言小说英译本,分析其对于“走出去”战略的启示。
Abstract:
Despite the fact that Chinese literature has played a quite important role in the field of world literature, many foreigners still know little about it. Therefore, since the 1950s, China has made a series of attempts to “going global”, but the effect is little and many problems have been exposed. Fortunately, since Mo Yan won the Nobel Prize in Literature, attention has been drawn to the translation of literature. Meanwhile, as one of the main translators of Mo Yan’s works, Howard Goldblatt has provided successful experience for the “going global” strategy on what translating model should be chosen and what translation strategy should be adapted. In this paper, problems that occurred in the process of “going global” and how to solve the translation ones based on Howard’s success will be introduced.
