中美主流媒体中互动式元话语使用的对比分析——以2022北京冬奥会中美主流新闻报道为例
A Comparative Analysis of the Use of Interactive Metadiscourse in Chinese and American Mainstream Media—Taking the Chinese and American Mainstream Media’s Coverage of 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games as an Example
摘要: 2022年2月4日,中国成功举办第24届冬季奥林匹克运动会,备受世界关注,在语言学视角下对两国新闻报道进行研究能为话语策略提供参考。语料选自中美两国主流媒体,共30篇,两国各15篇,通过创建语料库,借助AntConc 3.2.0对语料进行定性定量分析,并探究互动式元话语在两国语料中的使用情况。研究发现,两国主流媒体均采用元话语拉近与读者的距离,但中美两国的英文报道出现了很大差异,美方大量使用模糊限制语渲染氛围、引导舆论走向,其话语策略值得仔细考虑,本研究旨在加深人们对元话语的认知,也为人们在今后交际中使用元话语供参考,同时为更好地传播中国声音提供借鉴。
Abstract:
The success of the 24th Olympic Winter Games in China on February 4, 2022, has attracted worldwide attention, and a study of news coverage in both countries from a linguistic perspective can provide a reference for discourse strategies. A corpus of 30 pieces, 15 articles respectively, from the mainstream media in China and the United States was created and analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively with the help of AntConc 3.2.0, and the use of interactive metadiscourse in the two countries was investigated. The study finds that both mainstream media in the two countries use metadiscourse to bring them closer to their readers, but the English reports in China and the US appear to be very different, and the US side uses a lot of vague restrictions to render the atmosphere and guide the direction of public opinion, and its discourse strategy deserves careful consideration. This study aims to deepen people’s knowledge of metadiscourse, and also provide a reference for people to use metadiscourse in future communication, as well as to provide better dissemination of Chinese voices.
