Abstract: Parafoveal pre-processing efficiency may be one of the important factors in fluent reading. And orthographic information plays a very important role in Chinese reading. Using an eye-tracker and the parafoveal priming paradigm, we conducted an experiment to investigate parafoveal processing of orthographic information from characters located on N + 3 position. Our results shown that orthographic information could be obtained from character at N + 3 position at all three priming time. Results in the present study thus reflect Chinese readers reading capability on pre-processing orthographic information. Processing of orthographic information from parafoveal character has a crucial impact on processing of foveal information.
