Abstract: Subclinical hypothyroidism, subclinical hyperthyroidism, and osteoporosis are common and multi-ple diseases in clinical practice. Thyroid hormone plays an extensive and complex role in almost all tissues during development, childhood and adulthood. Thyroid hormone is necessary for bone de-velopment and bone metabolism, and is an important regulator of bone maintenance. When sub-clinical thyroid dysfunction occurs, the levels of thyroid hormone and thyroid stimulating hormone are abnormal, which may increase the risk of osteopenia, osteoporosis, or even fracture. This article reviews the relationship and research progress between subclinical thyroid dysfunction and osteo-porosis.
