Abstract: Lanthanide-transition metal complexes exhibiting single-molecule magnet behavior possess exceptional magnetic characteristics, as well as desirable optical, electrical, and catalytic properties associated with lanthanide and transition metals. These multifaceted attributes render them highly promising for applications in high-density information storage, quantum computing, and the synthesis of multifunctional magnetic molecular materials. Among the transition metal ions, cobalt ions are particularly noteworthy due to their significant magnetic anisotropy, making them pivotal for the construction of single-molecule magnets. Consequently, this study aims to provide an overview of the recent advancements in the investigation of representative lanthanide-cobalt single-molecule magnets.
