Abstract: The goal of basic education is no longer to stop at cognitive orientation, yet lays a foundation for students’ future happiness and successful life. Social Emotional Learning (SEL) has entered people’s vision. As the practice of promoting students’ social emotional learning has been recognized by many countries around the world, the cultivation of teachers’ social emotional ability has gradually attracted people’s attention. In recent years, people gradually realize that solving the problem of teachers’ social emotional learning is the key to comprehensively implement social emotional learning. Research shows that social and emotional competence can help teachers create a stable and effective classroom learning environment, promote positive teacher-student interaction and reduce teachers’ pressure, which is conducive to improving students’ academic achievement and teachers’ happiness. SEL course designed by The Collaborative for Reaching and Teaching the Whole Child at San Jose State University, CRTWC for short, is listed by CASEL as a demonstration course for the cultivation of preservice teachers’ social emotional ability, which can be used as ref-erence for the development of teachers’ social emotional ability in China.
