Abstract: Thoracolumbar spine fracture is a common spinal injury, and its severity and treatment plan vary depending on the location, type, and degree of injury. However, there has been a long-term lack of consensus in clinical classification of thoracolumbar spine fractures. With the emergence of complex imaging techniques, improved understanding of biomechanics, and to meet the high expectations of patients, several classification systems have been proposed by the backbone of this field. Each clas-sification system has made significant contributions to understanding and predicting treatment outcomes. This article aims to review the classification progress of thoracolumbar fractures from 1929 to today.
