中英礼貌策略对比研究——以2015~2021年学术书评为例
A Comparative Study on the Politeness Strategies across Chinese and English —Taking Academic Book Reviews from 2015 to 2021 as an Example

摘要: 学术书评对推荐学术著作、促进学术发展有着重要作用，然而，其中的礼貌策略却鲜有学者关注。本文运用Brown和Levinson的礼貌理论，对比中、英学术书评中为维护书籍作者面子而运用礼貌策略的异同。结果表明，中、英学术书评中使用的礼貌策略类型大致相同，但各类型的使用频率存在较大差异。从文化角度看，中、英学术书评礼貌策略运用的相同点来自于礼貌普遍性和文化动态性，而二者差异则源于礼貌传统、价值体系、语境文化和思维模式的差异。
Abstract: Academic book review plays an irreplaceable role in recommending academic works and promoting the academic development. However, previous studies paid little attention on the politeness strate-gies applied in it. This research focused on the politeness strategies employed in English and Chi-nese academic book reviews which aim to saving the book authors’ face on the basis of Brown and Levinson’s Politeness theory. The results reveal that the types of politeness strategies used in Eng-lish and Chinese academic book reviews are more or less the same, but great differences exist in the frequency of politeness strategies between them. This paper analyzes the similarities and differ-ences from the perspective of culture. The similarities mainly arise from the factors as the univer-sals of politeness and the dynamic nature of culture, while the differences result from the differ-ences in traditions of politeness, value systems, cultural contexts and thinking patterns.
