Abstract: Physiologically, there is a circadian rhythm of two peaks and one trough in human blood pressure, and the graph of intraday blood pressure fluctuation is spoon or deep spoon. In hypertensive pa-tients, the circadian rhythm is abnormally altered, with blood pressure showing a non-spoon or an-ti-spoon pattern during the day and night. This alteration is regulated by the autonomic nervous system, the central angiotensin system, vascular endothelial function, the renin-angiotensin- aldos-terone system, hormones and vasoactive substances, serum cytokine levels, and is affected by the patient’s salt intake, genetics, lifestyle, age, and obesity level.
