Abstract: The healthy development of adolescents has always been a significant concern for researchers and society. Governments also encourage schools to reduce stress for students and ensure they get enough sleep. Insomnia disorder is a condition characterized by frequent and persistent difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep, leading to inadequate sleep satisfaction. Many studies have found a high prevalence of insomnia disorder during adolescence, yet this group hasn’t received enough attention from researchers. This article provides a brief overview of insomnia disorder, including its definition, classification, common diagnostic methods, features during adolescence, and common intervention methods. By summarizing the current status of insomnia disorder in adolescence, it aims to guide and suggest directions for future research, all in the pursuit of promoting the healthy growth of adolescents.
