Studies on the Conductivity and Magnetism of Fullerene Materials
Abstract: In the mid-1980s, the discovery of fullerenes, a new allotrope of carbon, confirmed theorists’ predictions that there might be polyhedral carbon molecules with icosahedral symmetry. Due to their unique molecular structure, magnetic and electronic solid-state properties, fullerenes have attracted the interest of scientists in different fields such as physics, chemistry and biology. Both pure fullerenes and fullerene-based compounds exhibit interesting solid-state properties, including ferromagnetism, photoconductivity and nonlinear optics. Therefore, fullerenes and fullerene- based compounds are of great research value. In this paper, the structural characteristics, solid properties, electrical conductivity and magnetic properties of fullerenes were summarized. Moreover, the electrical conductivity and magnetic properties of fullerene-based donor-accepter complexes and radical ionic salts were analyzed. This work will lay a foundation for the study of magnetic properties of fullerenes conductors.
