Abstract: Depression is currently one of the most common mental diseases. In the group of patients with de-pression, about two-thirds of patients with depression have varying degrees of cognitive impair-ment. Research shows that the cognitive deficit of depression may be a precursor symptom of Alz-heimer’s disease, but its mechanism is not clear, and there is a lack of effective treatment at home and abroad. Recent studies have shown that gut flora may play an important role in cognitive dys-function. The purpose of this paper is to review the relevant studies on cognitive dysfunction in pa-tients with depression from the perspective of intestinal flora, and to provide theoretical basis for the prevention or treatment of cognitive dysfunction in elderly patients with depression.
