Spatial Transformation of Modern and Contemporary Public Art in Shanghai

摘要: “艺术的空间转向”是现代人文社科研究课题中一个重要组成部分，长期以来，对于艺术的研究大多停留在时空维度上，缺少对于空间维度的关注。伴随着中国近现代城市空间的快速发展，城市中的公共艺术变迁提供了一个窥探社会空间变化的窗口。本文从艺术空间转向为切入点探讨上海市近代以来公共艺术的多次空间转向，公共艺术的空间转向一定程度上能够反映城市政治文化转变、社会属性转变和意识形态转变，成为理解城市空间塑造的重要方式。

Abstract: “The spatial turn of art” is an important part of the research topic of modern humanities and social sciences. For a long time, the research on art mostly focus on the space-time dimension, and lacks the attention to the spatial dimension. With the rapid development of modern urban space in China, the changes of public art in cities provide a window to explore the changes of social space. This paper discusses the multiple spatial turns of public art in Shanghai since modern times from the perspective of the transformation of art space. In a way, the spatial transformation of public art can reflect the transformation of urban politics and culture, the transformation of social attributes and the transformation of ideology, and become an important way to understand the shaping of urban space.
