Abstract: There are differences in interpersonal interactions between online and real-world situations, and there are also differences in self-representation as an inevitable process of interpersonal interac-tions. Shyness, as a personality trait, is widely present and has an impact on our self-representa- tion. And currently, there is a lack of research that combines the two. Therefore, this study will use textual analysis to examine the differences in self-representation between high and low shyness college students in online and real-life social situations; and use a questionnaire method to study the correlation between shyness, gender, social media dependence, peer support, and self-repre- sentation, with the aim of understanding the internal psychological mechanisms underlying the differences in self-representation of shy individuals in different social situations; furthermore, the study is based on the VR technology and attempts to make an intervention for offline intervention for socially intimidated college students to improve their self-representation tendency, thus im-proving their socialization ability.
