Abstract: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is one of the common complications during pregnancy, which may cause serious adverse pregnancy outcomes, such as gestational hypertension, preterm delivery, macrosomia, and cesarean section, etc. Meanwhile, it may also have an adverse effect on the long-term health of both mothers and newborns, which may lead to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes mellitus, etc. Therefore, early recognition of GDM is crucial to the health of both mothers and newborns, and in this paper, we summarize the serological markers that have a predicative value of GDM at the first trimester of pregnancy, with the aim of providing theoretical references to the prevention of GDM at early stage of clinical work.
