Abstract: The Art of Public Speaking is the fruit of human civilization and wisdom. Stephen Lucas’s The Art of Public Speaking which contains a wealth of ideas on content and embodies the characteristics of the times, has a reflection of artistic accomplishment and unique analytical skills. The author of the book made interpretation of truth with plain language and revealed the nature of speech with classic examples which expanded the Chinese readers’ vision in the study of public speaking. This article not only made an objective analysis of the highlights and shortcomings of the Lucas’s The Art of Public Speaking, but also according to teaching experience put forward views to recommend it to more readers so that they can benefit.
