An Exploration of Translator Subjectivity Based on ChatGPT as an Aid to Translation—Taking the Translation Practice of the Novel The Great Gatsby as an Example
Abstract:
Regarding machine-assisted translation has always been a matter of diverse opinions and mixed reviews, and ChatGPT has made great progress compared with traditional artificial intelligence. In order to realize the human-computer interaction translation mode, it will be combined with the translator’s subjectivity to dialectically unify and explore the translator’s subjectivity using ChatGPT as an auxiliary; and then analyze the characteristics of the example text The Great Gatsby from the three aspects of language, vocabulary, and syntax, to analyze the accuracy and precision of ChatGPT in the translation of literature and how much the translator can play a role in the process. In the era of new artificial intelligence, translators should make full use of new technologies and translation tools and give full play to the translator’s subjectivity to adapt to today’s translation needs.
