目的论视角下文化负载词的英译研究——以《西游记》余国藩英译本第五十九回和第六十回为例

Translation Research of Culturally-Loaded Words from the Perspective of Skopostheorie—Taking Chapter 59 and Chapter 60 of the English Translation of The Journey to the West by Guofan Yu as an Example

摘要: 文化负载词承载着民族和国家的文化特色，同时也是翻译的重难点。本研究以吴承恩《西游记》原著和余国藩英译本为双语语料库，从目的论视角对文化负载词的翻译策略和方法进行分析。研究发现译者灵活采用归化和异化的翻译策略，符合翻译的交际目的，也增强了译文的可读性。另外，本文对有悖源语言表意以及不符合目标与读者阅读习惯的地方提出了修正建议，从而在保留源语特色基础上增强读者的可接受性，助力中国故事走向世界。

Abstract: Culturally-loaded words bear the cultural characteristics of nations and countries, and they are also the key and difficult points of translation. Taking the original work of Wu Cheng’en’s TheJourney to the West and the English translation of Yu Guofan as bilingual corpus, the translation strategies and methods of cultural load words are analyzed from the perspective of Skopostheorie. The study shows that the translator flexibly adopts the translation strategy of domestication and alienation, which conforms to the communicative purpose of the translation and also enhances the readability of the translation. In addition, this paper puts forward suggestions to revise the areas that go against the source language and do not conform to the goals and readers’ reading habits, so as to enhance the acceptability of readers on the basis of retaining the characteristics of the source language and contribute to Chinese stories to the world.
