英汉动物习语翻译中的文化差异与翻译策略研究

A Study on Cultural Differences and Translation Strategies in the Translation of English and Chinese Animal Idioms

摘要: 在中英文化的频繁交流中动物习语的重要性不断提高，其准确翻译与表达也在很大程度上影响着文化交流的结果。然而文化差异是英汉动物习语翻译的一大障碍。大部分动物习语都有着不同的文化形象及意义，清楚地掌握文化差异及拥有好的翻译技巧对做好中英动物习语翻译非常有必要。本文通过探讨英汉动物习语、文化差异和以及其翻译，着重分析论述造成文化差异的原因。其中影响文化差异的因素包括生活环境、地理位置、宗教、寓言和神话。本文对动物习语翻进行举例与分析论述并提出如下翻译方法包括直译、意义、异化、归化、形象替代翻译。译者需要深入了解语言背后的文化差异辅助之以恰当的翻译策略，便可让译文更加具有可读性，还可缩小文化差异并传达出其文化内涵。

Abstract: The importance of animal idioms in the frequent communication between Chinese and English cultures continues to increase, and the accurate translation and expression of animal idioms also greatly affects the results of cultural exchanges. However, cultural differences are the major obstacles in the translation of animal idioms between English and Chinese. Most idioms have different cultural images and meanings，so it is necessary to understand cultural differences and have good translation skills to translate Chinese and English animal idioms well. By exploring English and Chinese animal idioms, cultural differences and translation, this thesis focuses on analyzing and discussing the reasons for cultural differences. The factors affecting cultural differences include living environment, geographical location, religion, fables and myths. In addition, the translation of animal idioms is given with examples and analysis. Finally, the following translation methods are proposed: literal translation, free translation, foreignization, domestication, image replacement translation. Translators need to have a deep understanding of the cultural differences behind the language and use appropriate translation strategies to make the translation more readable and narrow the cultural differences to convey its cultural connotations.
