Progress in the Study of Body Dysmorphic Disorder
Abstract: Body dysmorphic disorder (BBD) is a psychological disorder characterized by excessive concern and dissatisfaction with one’s own appearance, and a serious discrepancy between one’s perception of one’s own appearance and the actual situation. Under the background of the mobile Internet, the symptoms and pathological mechanisms of BBD have changed. In this paper, we review the latest research progress of BBD in recent years, comment on the psychological mechanisms, theoretical explanations, and influences of BBD, introduce the pathological mechanisms and treatment methods, and finally point out the limitations and future directions of current research on BBD.
