Abstract: The prevalence of diabetes mellitus (DM) has increased dramatically worldwide, and the damaging effects of hyperglycemia are divided into microvascular complications (diabetic nephropathy, neuropathy, and retinopathy) and macrovascular complications (coronary artery disease, peripheral artery disease, and stroke). A large number of studies have shown that monocyte/high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio (MHR) is an indicator of inflammation. MHR has the advantages of simple, easy to measure and stability, and may become a predictor of diabetic microangiopathy and macrovascular complications in the future. This article reviews the research progress on the role of MHR in type 2 diabetes.
