Abstract: Carbon Dots (CDs) are a novel type of carbon nanomaterial, typically characterized as zero-dimensional carbon-based nanoparticles with diameters smaller than 10 nm and surfaces rich in functional groups such as hydroxyl and carboxyl. Due to their unique fluorescence properties, excellent biocompatibility, low toxicity, ease of surface functionalization, and diverse synthesis methods, CDs have found extensive applications in fields such as bioimaging, targeted drug delivery, bone tissue engineering, and the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. In recent years, the application of CDs in oral medicine has increased significantly. This paper reviews the research progress on the application of CDs and their composites in various disciplines of oral medicine, aiming to provide references and insights for their practical application in this field.
