Using “Art” to Connect Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics—The Attempt of “Innovation Design Workshop” of Nanjing Forestry University

摘要: 本文以南京林业大学艺术设计学院“创新设计工作坊”课程为例,挖掘“艺术”在设计教育中如何更好地发挥作用,以及本次工作坊带来的启发。文章首先简要回顾了中国设计教育的发展现况及存在的问题。随后,围绕“美育”、“STEAM”回顾了国内外相关文献。紧接着,文章介绍了南京林业大学艺术设计学院开设的“创新设计工作坊”,并展示了部分优秀设计作品。最后,文章探讨了艺术及“工作坊”模式对设计教育的影响与启发。
Abstract: This article uses the Innovation Design Workshop course at the College of Art and Design of Nanjing Forestry University as a case study to explore how “art” can play a more effective role in design education and the inspirations drawn from this workshop. The article begins with a brief review of the current state and issues of design education in China. It then reviews relevant literature on aesthetic education and STEAM both domestically and internationally. Following this, the article introduces the Innovation Design Workshop offered by the College of Art and Design at Nanjing Forestry University and showcases some outstanding design works. Finally, the article discusses the impact and insights of art and the workshop model on design education.
