On the Cough of the Five Viscera

摘要: 咳嗽，是常见的一种疾病或者症状。古人云：有声无痰谓之咳，有痰无声谓之嗽。但临床上，这两者总是不能明确地区分，因此通常将它们统称为“咳嗽”。说到咳嗽，大多数人都会想到呼吸系统疾病、肺系疾病，但是，在中医古籍里提到：“五脏皆令人咳，非独肺也。”说明咳嗽不仅仅与肺脏有关，与其他四脏亦有关。

Abstract: Cough is a common illness or symptom. The ancients said: Cough with sound without phlegm, cough with phlegm without sound. Clinically, however, there is always no clear distinction between the two, so they are often referred to collectively as “cough”. When it comes to coughing, most people think of respiratory diseases and lung diseases, but in ancient Chinese medicine books, it is mentioned that “all five organs make people cough, not only the lungs”. This shows that cough is not only related to the lungs, but also to the other four organs.
