Abstract: Avoidant Personality Disorder (AVPD) is characterized primarily by social avoidance, lack of self-confidence, and high sensitivity to negative evaluation. Patients with AVPD experience severe impairment in social functioning, which has a significant impact on their lives, but related research is relatively scarce. This paper reviews and summarizes previous research findings on the manifestations and diagnostic criteria, comorbidities and differential diagnosis, etiology, and treatment of AVPD, aiming to enhance public awareness and understanding of this disorder. Future research needs to delve into the ultimate causes of AVPD and more effective treatment methods, providing theoretical foundations and practical guidance for the treatment and rehabilitation of AVPD patients.
