Its pathogenesis is still not very clear. To understand the similarities and differences of retinal pigment epithelial cell structure and function of the macular and peripheral retinal regions is to contribute to our understanding of the pathogenesis of age-related macular degeneration. It will lead us to find new treatment and prevention of disease as early as possible.
