Appreciation of Yang Yi’s Translation of Wuthering Heights under the Guidance of Communicative Translation Theory

摘要: 《呼啸山庄》是艾米莉•勃朗特的哥特式小说，这部作品描述了发生在英国乡村两代人错综复杂的爱恨情仇。杨苡前辈是为数不多的女性翻译家之一，她翻译时多采用直译的翻译手法，译文忠实于原文，保持了原文的风格和形式，将作品中的风土人情、风俗习惯等完整地展现给了读者。本文将从环境、对话、修辞等方面入手，在交际翻译理论的指导下对杨苡译本进行分析和鉴赏，考察原文意义在译本中的体现及如何给读者带来更好的阅读体验。

Abstract: Wuthering Heights is a Gothic novel by Emily Bronte that describes the intricate love and hate relationship of two generations in the British countryside. Yang Yi is one of the few female translators. She often uses the translation technique of literal translation. The translation is faithful to the original text, maintains the style and form of the original text, and completely shows the local customs in the works to the readers. This paper will analyze and appreciate Yang Yi’s translation from the aspects of environment, dialogue, and rhetoric under the guidance of communicative translation theory. The purpose of this paper is to examine how the meaning of the original text is reflected in the translation and how to bring a better reading experience to readers.
