Abstract: With the continuous progress of technology and the acceleration of social information, digital media art has gone beyond the limitations of traditional art forms and become an important medium to express contemporary culture and ideas. From the early sprout of technical media art to the prosperity of digital media art, this development process not only records the unremitting exploration of artists and technical professionals, but also reflects the continuous evolution of social expression of art. This paper aims to deeply discuss the development process, cutting-edge research, future development direction of western digital media art in the information age, and the difference between digital media art and non-information age. Through a systematic analysis of this topic, we will gain insight into the place and impact of digital media art in contemporary society, providing useful insights for art creators, scholars, and educators.
