Abstract: Crohn’s disease (CD) is a chronic relapsing condition that can affect any part of the gastrointestinal tract, from the mouth to the anus. The pathogenesis of CD remains poorly understood, likely resulting from a complex interplay of genetic predisposition, environmental factors, and gut microbiota. Patients with CD are at an increased risk of nutritional deficiencies and malnutrition due to these multifactorial influences, which can significantly impact their prognosis and quality of life. Consequently, enteral nutritional support therapy is crucial for managing patients with CD. This article provides a comprehensive overview of enteral nutrition therapy for Crohn’s disease, addressing the nutritional status of affected patients, the mechanisms of action of enteral nutrition, various formulations, delivery routes, and potential adverse effects.
