Abstract: The incidence and mortality rate of malignant tumors continue to rise, and this disease has become one of the important factors causing death from chronic non-infectious diseases. Currently, treatment measures for such diseases still have limitations. Metformin, as a drug, has been shown to reduce the risk of developing tumors in patients with type 2 diabetes and has initially demonstrated its potential in reducing tumor recurrence, metastasis and death. In addition, the potential application of metformin in the anti-tumor field has also attracted increasing attention, and its effectiveness may be closely related to the regulatory mechanism of cellular energy metabolism. This article will explore in depth the application of metformin in tumor treatment and its potential anti-tumor mechanism from the perspective of energy metabolism.
