Abstract: Creativity has been identified as a catalyst for social development; however, it has also been demonstrated to be destructive. Recent studies in the field have revealed a hitherto unacknowledged aspect of creativity, one that is characterized by a capacity for malevolence, thereby counteracting its well-documented positive effects. The present study aspires to achieve several objectives. Firstly, it seeks to furnish a comprehensive understanding of the dynamics of research on the “dark side of creativity” of general public. Secondly, it aims to examine the predictors and underlying mechanisms of malignant creativity. Thirdly, it intends to consider the effects of contextual and individual differences. Finally, it is designed to disseminate the results of the study and to provide valuable references for future researchers in this field.
