Abstract: As one of the fundamental forms of social interaction, fairness and self-interest in cooperation have garnered significant attention from researchers. Currently, most studies have identified a self-serving bias in the attribution of responsibility, and the distribution of outcomes exhibits different fairness preferences depending on whether responsibilities are shared or distinct. Based on this, this paper reviews the attribution of responsibility and the distribution of outcomes in cooperative contexts, summarizing the self-serving bias, fairness preferences, and the strengths and weaknesses of outcome distribution decision-making tasks. It also proposes specific questions for future research. The hope is to encourage more multi-faceted and context-rich studies on cooperative behavior.
