Abstract: Singapore’s foreign exchange market is a key hub of the global financial system, and has transformed itself step by step from a “small dragon” to a “big player” in the financial world. With its efficient trading services, advanced financial infrastructure and open policy environment, Singapore’s foreign exchange market has promoted international currency circulation and financial market stability, and has had a significant impact on global economic prosperity and RMB internationalization. Therefore, studying the development history of Singapore’s foreign exchange market is crucial to deepening the understanding of the operation of the international financial system, helping to promote the internationalization of the RMB and enhancing the competitiveness and stability of the financial market, while providing valuable experience in financial development and regulation for other countries. This paper comprehensively analyzes the origin of Singapore’s foreign exchange market, the development of infrastructure, the internationalization process, and the current market situation and trends, and elaborates in detail how Singapore has grown from a regional financial center to a global financial hub through its open policy, financial innovation and effective regulation.
