A Cross-Cultural Translation Study of the Chinese Version of The Kite Runner Based on Cultural Schema Theory

摘要: 本文以文化图式理论为框架，深入剖析《追风筝的人》汉译本中的跨文化传递与读者接受度，通过文化负载词、文化典故及文化意象三个角度分析，评估其采取的翻译方法的效果，旨在为文学翻译研究提供新视角。由于文化负载词、文化典故和文化意象在促进文化图式跨文化传递和构建方面发挥的重要作用，李继宏的翻译实践有效地将阿富汗文化元素传递给了汉语读者，使他们能够更好地理解和欣赏阿富汗文化的独特魅力。

Abstract: This study employs Cultural Schema Theory as its framework to analyze the cross-cultural transmission and reader reception in the Chinese version of The Kite Runner. By examining three key dimensions—culture-loaded words, cultural allusions, and cultural imagery, the study evaluates the effectiveness of the translation strategies employed. It aims to offer new insights into literary translation studies. Given the significant role of cultural load-bearing words, cultural allusions, and cultural imagery in facilitating the cross-cultural transmission and construction of cultural schemas, Li Jihong’s translation practice successfully conveys Afghan cultural elements to Chinese readers, enabling them to better understand and appreciate the unique charm of Afghan culture.
