基于自建语料库的外宣纪录片文化负载词的英译策略分析——以《四季中国》为例
Analysis of English Translation Methods for Culture-Loaded Words in International Publicity Documentaries Based on a Self-Built Corpus—A Case Study of Seasons of China
摘要: 本论文以2019年播出的新华社纪录片《四季中国》为研究对象,通过ELAN工具标注纪录片中文化负载词中英文本,并运用定量的研究方法,对纪录片进行文化负载词翻译方法分析。首先梳理了文化负载词的定义和特点,划分出8种常见的英译方法,包括意译、直译、直译 + 注释、音译、音译 + 注释、增译、简译、类比等,接着结合视频标注得出统计数据并进行具体实例分析。同时,本文还探讨了不同翻译方法对目标受众理解和接受的影响。研究发现,适当的翻译策略不仅能够保留文化负载词的原意,还能增强外宣视频的文化传播效果。本文的研究不仅为外宣纪录片的翻译实践提供了理论指导,也为进一步的相关研究提供了借鉴。希望本研究能够为国内外宣纪录片翻译研究和实践提供新的角度,同时促进中国文化“走出去”,提升中国文化的国际影响力。
Abstract: This study investigates the English translation methods for culture-loaded words in the Xinhua News Agency documentary Seasons of China (2019). By employing the ELAN tool for bilingual annotation and adopting a corpus-based quantitative approach, this paper systematically analyzes the translation methods used for culture-loaded words in the documentary. The writer first reviews the definition and characteristics of culture-loaded words and categorizes eight common translation methods: literal translation, free translation, literal translation with annotation, transliteration, transliteration with annotation, amplification, simplification, and analogy. Based on annotated data, statistical analysis is conducted to examine the distribution of these methods, followed by a detailed discussion of representative examples. Furthermore, the writer evaluates the impact of different translation methods on the comprehension and reception of the target audience. The findings suggest that an optimal translation method not only preserves the semantic and cultural essence of culture-loaded words but also enhances the effectiveness of cross-cultural communication in international publicity documentaries. This study not only informs the translation practice of international publicity documentaries but also serves as a reference for further research. The writer hopes that the findings will provide novel perspectives for future studies in this field while promoting Chinese culture globally and reinforcing its international influence.
