基于语料库的《边城》英译本译者风格翻译语言特征分析——以杨宪益、戴乃迭和金介甫译本为例

Analysis of the Translational Linguistic Features of the Translators’ Styles in the English Versions of “Bian Cheng” Based on a Corpus—A Case Study of the Translations by Yang Xianyi, Gladys Yang and Jeffrey C. Kinkley

摘要: 本研究旨在通过语料库方法深入分析《边城》的两个英译本，探讨杨宪益、戴乃迭和金介甫译者的翻译风格及其翻译语言特征。通过构建平行语料库，本研究从微观和宏观两个层面对译本的平均词长、词长分布、标准化类符/形符比(TTR)、平均句长等方面进行了定量和定性分析。研究发现，尽管译者在传达原作信息和文化负载词方面存在共性，但在词汇选择、句法结构和翻译策略上各有侧重，体现了各自独特的翻译风格和对原文的个性化诠释。

Abstract: This research aims to conduct an in-depth analysis of the two English versions of “Bian Cheng” through the corpus approach, and explore the translation styles and translational linguistic features of the translators Yang Xianyi, Gladys Yang and Jeffrey C. Kinkley. By constructing a parallel corpus, this study has carried out both quantitative and qualitative analyses of aspects such as the average word length, word length distribution, standardized type-token ratio (TTR), and average sentence length of the translations from both micro and macro levels. The study reveals that although there are commonalities among the translators in conveying the information of the original work and culturally-loaded words, they each have their own focuses in terms of vocabulary selection, syntactic structures, and translation strategies, which reflect their unique translation styles and personalized interpretations of the original text.
