Abstract: This study aims to elucidate the mechanisms and moderating factors through which social media use influences adolescents’ body image, thereby providing a theoretical foundation for developing intervention strategies. Quantitative analysis and moderation tests reveal that the intensity, patterns, and behaviors of social media engagement significantly reduce adolescents’ body satisfaction through pathways such as body comparison and self-objectification. Notably, personality traits (e.g., neuroticism, narcissism, perfectionism) and cognitive factors (e.g., self-acceptance, identity clarity) exhibit significant moderating effects. The findings underscore the need for future research to enhance localized empirical studies, diversify sampling, and integrate multimodal methodologies. By refining theoretical models and constructing multidimensional intervention frameworks, this research seeks to establish a scientific approach to mitigating adolescents’ body image concerns.
