Abstract: Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common form of arthritis, affecting one-third of individuals over the age of 65. As time progresses, the prevalence of OA is rising year by year. OA-related joint pain can lead to functional limitations, poor sleep, fatigue, mood depression, and a loss of independence in daily life. Patients also face higher out-of-pocket health-related expenses and substantial costs due to productivity losses. The pathophysiology of OA is not yet fully understood, and there is currently no cure. At present, there are three kinds of non-drug treatment, drug treatment and surgical treatment, and the most widely used is still drug treatment, and traditional Chinese medicine has paid more and more attention to the treatment of OA, and in-depth research on the mechanism of action of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of OA can provide new treatment options for early treatment, and the study of related mechanisms of action may provide new targets for the treatment of OA in the future, so as to slow down or cure the progression of this chronic and disabling disease.
