三美理论视角下《春望》三种英译本对比研究
A Comparative Study of Three English Translations of “Chun Wang” (Spring View) from the Perspective of the Three Beauties Theory
摘要: 《春望》是唐代著名诗人杜甫的代表作之一,是一首典型的五言律诗,语言深沉凝练、言简意多,蕴含的家国情怀乃全人类所共有。本文以我国知名学者、翻译家许渊冲先生提出的“三美”原则为理论指导,从音美、形美、意美三个方面对吴钧陶、许渊冲、华滋生的《春望》译本进行对比分析,旨在说明“三美”观在中国古典诗词翻译中的应用和体现,以期丰富三美理论的实践案例,并进一步发掘中国古典诗词的艺术价值。
Abstract: Spring View (Chun Wang) is a typical five-character regulated verse written by the renowned poet Du Fu in Tang dynasty, the language of this poem is simple but profound, full of rich images, articulating a patriotism that resonates universally. Guided by the “Three Beauties Theory” proposed by distinguished Chinese scholar and translator Xu Yuanchong, this paper conducts a comparative analysis of three English translations of this poem by Wu Juntao, Xu Yuanchong, and Burton Watson. By scrutinizing their approaches to Beauty in Meaning, Beauty in Sound and Beauty in Form, the paper elucidates how the “Three Beauties Theory” manifests in classical Chinese poetry translation. The findings aim to enrich empirical applications of this theoretical model while further unveiling the artistic depth of China’s classical poetic heritage.
