Abstract: Confucius’s concept of “benevolence” is an integral part of traditional Chinese culture, rooted in the social transformations of the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods. At its core lies the principle that “the benevolent love others,” emphasizing widespread care and concern for others and society. In Confucius’s view, “benevolence” is not only the foundation of moral cultivation but also a spiritual resource for social governance. Through principles such as “Do not impose on others what you yourself do not desire,” Confucius transformed the concept of “benevolence” into specific moral behavioral guidelines, influencing the development of moral education in subsequent generations. For moral education targeting university students, Confucius's philosophy of “benevolence” provides an important value orientation. In the context of a diverse and complex society, guiding university students to establish correct values and worldviews is particularly important.
