Abstract: With age, the working memory of the elderly gradually declines, showing the characteristics of aging, which has a negative impact on the quality of life of the elderly. However, working memory is not immutable and can be improved through working memory training to alleviate the adverse effects of aging. Currently, in the research on the working memory of the elderly, the results of the transfer effect are still inconsistent, and the mechanism of action and neural mechanism of working memory training remain to be demonstrated. Therefore, this article elaborates on the current status of this field from aspects such as the content, methods, neural physiological mechanisms of training effects, and transfer effects of working memory training for the elderly, and discusses the reasons for the inconsistent training effects at present and the possible future development trends in this field.
