Abstract: This study employed CiteSpace 6.3.R1 software to conduct a visualization analysis of social-emotional competence research literature indexed in Web of Science Core Collection and CNKI core journals from 2014 to 2024. The findings revealed: (1) Research publications on social-emotional competence showed a significant upward trend, with notable growth after 2019; (2) Regarding research power distribution, international research was primarily led by institutions such as the University of California and Pennsylvania State Higher Education, while domestic research was centered around the Faculty of Education at Beijing Normal University and East China Normal University. The density of institutional collaboration was higher internationally than domestically; (3) Keyword analysis indicated that international research themes encompassed 13 domains, including social-emotional learning, behavioral problems, and emotional intelligence development, demonstrating diversified characteristics. In contrast, domestic research primarily focused on two main directions: rural disparities between eastern and western regions and parental behavior; (4) Regarding research frontiers, international studies gradually shifted from fundamental issues to broader social development concerns, while domestic research exhibited parallel development in theoretical exploration and practical application. Future research suggestions emphasize focusing on social-emotional competence development of kindergarten teachers and parents, exploring new models of curriculum design and pre-service teacher training in the context of educational big data, and advancing the localization of social-emotional competence development programs.
